About the Role
A Satellite Ground Station Systems Engineer is sought for a permanent post in Didcot, working on terrestrial radio facilities for spacecraft communication. The role covers research, design and development of antennas supporting in-orbit links, with a salary of £38,000 to £68,000 annually. Applicants need commercial satellite communications experience, particularly ground station integration spanning system setup, coding and hardware. Expertise is required in one or more areas: Telemetry, Tracking and Command systems for monitoring satellite health, orbit tracking and command uplinks; payload downlink signal processing for scientific, imaging and communication traffic; or parabolic dish, feed horn, waveguide, low noise amplifier and space receiver hardware. Familiarity with Ground Stations as a Service and cloud-integrated networks is advantageous.
Satellite Ground Station Systems Engineer required to work at the cutting edge of terrestrial radio facility spacecraft communication systems research, design and development of antennas for in orbit communications.
Requirements
Satellite communications commercial experience of Ground Station system integration including system setup, coding and hardware. Deep experience in one or more of£££
Telemetry, Tracking, and Command systems to monitor satellite health, track orbit, and process command uplinks.
Payload Data Downlink signal processing of scientific, imaging and communication data from spacecraft.
Parabolic reception antenna dish, feed horn, waveguide, low noise amplifiers LNAs, space receivers and related.
Ground Stations as a Service GSaaS development of Cloud integrated networks allowing operators to lease antenna time.
You will also have a PhD or MSc in Satellite Communications, Telecommunications systems or similar.
Experience on collaborative projects and bid writing for framework programmes such as IUK, ESA or Horizon.
Experience working on externally funded collaborative projects with external stakeholders or equivalent relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Technical delivery on projects, technical consultancy to businesses, engagement with universities and Research centres on satellite Ground Station Systems.
