The company:

Our client is a leading UK provider of automated materials handling and logistics solutions, designing, manufacturing and installing bespoke equipment for some of the UK''s largest businesses.

The business designs and manufactures a variety of automated systems, including conveyor systems, robotics, crane systems and other bespoke materials handling equipment.

They currently employ over 200 employees across multiple sitesand have grown significantly in recent years, increasing turnover from around £12m in 10 years ago to approximately £70m today, with further growth expected to hit £100m this year

The role:

As the Sales Manager, you will take ownership of high-value automation projects from initial qualification through to winning the order.

Working closely with the design and project engineering teams, you will develop technical solutions, build project costs, prepare tenders and proposals, present solutions to customers and negotiate contracts.

You will work closely with the current Sales Manager as part of a structured handover, giving you the opportunity to build a detailed understanding of existing customers, relationships, pipeline and pricing history.

Your responsibilities will include:

• ·       Own high-value automation tenders from qualification through to order.
• ·       Develop new opportunities and manage key customer accounts.
• ·       Work with design and project teams to develop and price bespoke solutions.
• ·       Prepare and present tenders and commercial proposals.
• ·       Negotiate contracts, protecting margin and managing commercial risk.
• ·       Visit customer sites to identify upcoming projects and build relationships.
• ·       Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and forecast.
• ·       Manage the handover of successful projects to the delivery team.

What we''re looking for in a candidate:

• Proven experience selling capital equipment, automation, materials handling, Conveyors or other complex engineered solutions.
• Experience managing high-value projects from enquiry through to order.
• Strong technical understanding of engineering solutions, layouts and system integration.
• Experience with tenders, pricing and commercial negotiations.
• Strong relationship-building and account management skills at senior level.
• Proactive approach to business development and customer visits.
• Experience within logistics, warehousing, manufacturing or automation would be advantageous.
• Self-sufficient, commercially driven and confident in winning complex projects.
