The Role:
We’re seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate quotations, manage costs, and build strong relationships with clients and suppliers. You’ll play a key role in tendering and securing work while ensuring projects align with our high standards and profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit professional quotations/estimates to meet client specifications and deadlines.
- Interpret engineering drawings, including geometric tolerances, symbols, revisions, and layouts.
- Research and calculate costs for materials, labour, transport, and equipment.
- Collaborate with Directors and stakeholders to assess risks, agree rates, and set profit margins.
- Drive continuous improvement in processes to enhance quality and efficiency.within manufacturing
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Obtain timely quotes from suppliers to support accurate costings.
- Monitor project costs to ensure they stay within budget estimates.
- Uphold health and safety standards across the site.
- Undertake additional tasks to support AJM Engineering Ltd’s objectives.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in estimating or a similar role within a manufacturing environment (ISO 9001 or AS9100 essential).
- Proven track record of providing quotes for aerospace and defence primes.
- Background in machining (desirable but not essential).
- Experience with MRP systems (desirable but not essential).
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).

This is a really great opportunity to work for an expanding company. There will be opportunities to develop your skillset through training. It is a 39 hour week with a nice early finish on a Friday! 33 days per year holiday entitlement plus other benefits.
