The Company
We are working with one of the UKs largest manufacturers and distributors of bespoke hydraulic components and systems. The business turns over in excess of £100 million in the UK and employ over 500 staff as a group.
The business has a number of manufacturing sites throughout the UK that can design and manufacture bespoke hydraulic components and systems for their customers. They supply to a huge range of industrial manufacturing sectors including FMCG, Aerospace, Water, Automation and Metals Manufacturing. They also supply to large scale industrial vehicle manufacturers.
The business is on an upwards trend and expects to grow to £125 million in 2026, they are achieving this through a combination development of the existing team and acquisition of new businesses that support their mission.
Due to this expansion they are currently recruiting for a Sales Engineer to support their northern manufacturing centre. You will be responsible for growing the revenue stream across that region aiming to secure circa £1 million of revenue for the business per year.

The Role
The role of Sales Engineer will see you selling hydraulic components and systems across the North of England. The applications for the systems range across numerous industries. The business are happy for someone to take a general approach or focus in specific sectors if their previous experience is more specialised.
The role will involve:
- Generating RFQs for bespoke hydraulic components and hydraulic systems across the North of England.
- Targeting customers across numerous sectors including FMCG, Water, Metals Manufacturing, Agriculture and Plastics.
- The role will be circa 65% selling bespoke hydraulic components and 35% selling tailored hydraulic systems.
- You will be generating enquiries for projects worth anything from 5K up to 500K
- The role will be 60% new business development focussed and 40% looking after existing customers and increase the spend with lapsed accounts.
- You will be on road circa four days per week meeting customers.
- Once you have generated RFQs you will liaise with the inhouse design team for any further technical information required. The design team will then support with creating the BOM to support the quoting process.

To be successful in your application for this Sales Engineer role you will need:
- To be a hunter happy to go and win new business
- To be an effective relationship builder
- To be able to close
- To have a background in selling hydraulic or fluid power systems or components.
- To be based in the North West or North East of England
