GP Role 8 Sessions/Week (Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri; Can Be Shared Between 2 GPsRole Summary:The post-holder will manage a patient caseloadand deal with a wide range of health needs, ensuring the highest standards ofcare for all registered and temporary patients.Main Purpose of Job:To support the GP partners in the Practice tomanage a busy, interesting clinical caseload. The appointee will also have theopportunity to take part in leading on key disease areas (monitoring trends intreatment, staff training and prescribing) and assist in developing appropriatehealthcare services for a diverse suburban patient list, including DirectedEnhanced Services commissioning, patient participation and health promotion.The post-holder will be working across Medicus Health Partners sites providingpatient care.Responsible to:The Practice Partners.CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES :In accordance with the Practicetimetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available toundertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephoneconsultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signingrepeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, referrals andcorrespondence in a timely manner.Making professional, autonomous decisions inrelation to presenting problems, whether self referred or referred from otherhealth care workers within the Practice.Assessing the health care needs of patientswith undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.Screening patients for disease risk factorsand early signs of illness.In consultation with patientsand in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing careplans for health.Providing counselling andhealth education.Admitting or discharging patients to andfrom the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.Recording clear and contemporaneousconsultation notes to agreed standards.Collecting data for audit purposes.Compiling and issuing computer-generatedacute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding handwritten prescriptions wheneverpossible).Prescribing in accordance with the Practiceprescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.Ensuring that all work carried out whichcarries a private fee is properly recouped and accounted for; e.g. MedicalReports, Insurance reports, Private letters to third Parties etc.In general, the post-holderwill be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilitiesassociated with a GP working within primary care.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES WITH THE PRACTICE:Awareness of and compliance with allrelevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, dataprotection, health and safetyA commitment to life-long learning and auditto ensure evidence-based best practice.Contributing to evaluation/audit andclinical standard setting within the Practice.Contributing to the developmentof computer-based patient records.Contributing to the summarising of patientrecords and accurate Read-Coding of patient data.Attending training and events organised bythe Practice or other agencies, where appropriate.CONFIDENTIALITY:In the course of seeking treatment, patientsentrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation totheir health and other matters.
