Salaried General Practitioner (GP)

Overview

Eve Hill Medical Practice is an established family medical practice in Dudley offering an outstanding level of service and care to -8800 registered patients. The practice is a training site with opportunities to participate in practice research and personal development. We are innovative and committed to care navigation, workflow administration, non-clinical filing of pathology and smarter working to ensure GPs focus on their core clinical role.We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Salaried GP to work up to 4 sessions per week (Tuesday and Wednesday) with potential additional sessions to cover leave, and a supportive environment with opportunities to supervise others.ResponsibilitiesThe post-holder will undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations and emergencies, telephone consultations and queries, on-call, triaging, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with clinical queries, patient test results, patient medical reports and examinations (e.g. Insurance Companies) on behalf of the Practice, referral letters (NHS/private), paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner.

Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.

Supervise and support non-medical practitioners, trainee doctors and medical students.

Comply with the requirements of the practice’s General Medical Services (GMS) contract, Enhanced Services contracts, educational/training delivery contracts and private contracts.

Adhere to the principles of the GMC’s Good Medical Practice.

Qualifications

Essential: Registered with GMC; On GP performers list; MB ChB MRCGP or equivalent.

Desirable: EMIS Web trained.

Experience

Essential: Ability to correlate history and examination to ensure safe and appropriate diagnostic and management decisions; up-to-date GP appraisal and ongoing CPD; awareness of local and national guidelines for clinical management and prescribing.

Desirable: Experience of managing complex cases.

Skills and Attributes

Essential: Commitment to high-quality direct clinical care; strong clinical and communication skills; effective multidisciplinary team member; excellent record keeping; ability to gauge hidden agendas in consultations.

Personal attributes: Strong communication with clinical and non-clinical staff; ability to identify clinical risk and take action; organisational and conflict management skills; willingness to seek support; flexible approach; reliable attendance and timekeeping.
