About the Role
As Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) Manager in Newark-on-Trent, you will lead cultural advancement across an established manufacturing site employing roughly one hundred people. Reporting to the Plant Manager and joining the senior leadership group, your focus is shifting the team from dependent to interdependent safety behaviours. With strong backing from engaged management, you will set direction and provide clear guidance on all SHE matters. This permanent position offers a salary between £45,000 and £50,000. You will collaborate closely with a Head of HSE, ensuring consistent standards. Your efforts will support continuous improvement, not only in safety but across every department, making this a pivotal leadership role within a supportive environment.
HSE Recruitment are working with an established manufacturing company in Newark who are looking for a new Safety, Health and Environmental Manager to lead the safety culture and performance across the site.
This is one of the best performing sites, with a very engaged management team and a headcount of circa 100. If you want to join a business where safety is driven from the top and the culture is one of improvement, not just in safety, but across all departments, then this could be for you.
Your role is to support the site in moving from a dependant to an interdependent safety culture. Reporting into the Plant Manager and sitting on the senior management team, you will provide the direction, support and clarity in relation to health and safety. You will have a dotted line into a Head of HSE and work alongside a wider company EHS team.
You will take ownership for all Safety, Health and Wellbeing activities on site. You will guide and influence Operational Management to maintain high standards, champion innovation, drive continuous improvement and solutions to issues, promote positive culture and safe working practices and deliver the IMS to improve compliance.
What we are looking for-
- A strong HSE Manager or Senior HSE Advisor who is going to bring the technical skills and knowledge as well as the softer skills.
- NEBOSH Certificate level qualified as a minimum.
- Background across any manufacturing or engineering, factory focused environment will be considered.
- Need individual to be comfortable to uphold existing standards and move forward on behaviours and culture.
- People focused, able to engage, who can educate people on the why, who can tell a story and change habits.
- Someone who will hold people to count, challenge when needed and who will lead the step change, changing the mindset of ownership.
