We are now seeking a motivated and organised Rota Consultant to join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring safe and effective staffing across our services. The Rota Consultant role is full time permanent and office based, in Westcliff on Sea, Essex. 9am-5pm Monday to Friday (35 hour week)
Purpose of the Role
The Rota Consultant will be responsible for producing and managing staff rotas for ENS staff. The post holder will ensure that rotas are delivered efficiently, in line with contractual and regulatory requirements, and that safe staffing levels are consistently maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain staff rotas, ensuring service needs are met and shifts are allocated in line with policies and procedures.
- Input and update rotas in advance, manage deviations, and arrange shift cover at short notice where required.
- Communicate enforced rota changes to clients and staff in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure that staff booked into shifts meet all company, regulatory, and service user requirements.
- Manage staff availability, annual leave, sickness, and absences using rota systems.
- Handle staff and client queries, maintaining a high standard of customer service.
- Monitor staff wellbeing and escalate concerns to HR or management.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in rota coordination, scheduling, or workforce planning (preferably within healthcare or social care).
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience using rota management systems, ideally Access Care Planning / Access EVO.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with staff and clients.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, particularly when resolving rota shortfalls.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all administrative tasks.
- Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality requirements (GDPR).
Desirable experience
Experience supervising or appraising staff.
Awareness of CQC compliance and regulations relating to staffing.
Experience handling complaints and escalating incidents appropriately.
Ability to analyse rota patterns to identify efficiencies and improvements.
Flexible approach to working hours to support emergency rota cover.
Salary: -27,000 per annum. Working a 35 hour week (Monday to Friday 9am-5pm)
