Previous experience of rolling mills is not essential, and the role should be viewed as a Junior or Trainee level position to start. It is envisaged that the first 2-3 years will see you shadowing a Senior Engineer whilst learning the detailed requirements of the design of rolling mill passes Sector : Metals manufacturing, hot metal working, metallurgy Academic Level : Masters (MEng, MSc) or PhD in a technical subject Location : South Yorkshire based with national and international travel as required. Projects can have durations of over 12 months, and values upwards of -100 million each. Customer locations are both UK and Internationally based, and the roll will require travel to these locations. Travel will probably be about 20% of the role, but may involve periods of time away from home for up to 4 weeks at a time, especially at the start and commissioning phases of projects.
