Risk professionals execute critical day-to-day risk management activities, lead projects, and contribute to the ongoing advancement of a robust risk management program. Effective coordination with executive management, business units, control departments and technology is critical for success.COUNTERPARTY CREDIT RISKCredit Risk (CR) is responsible for managing the firm''s credit exposure to its trading and lending counterparties. Leveraging its extensive expertise in financial, credit and risk analysis, CR ensures that credit exposure to our counterparts is managed within the firm''s risk appetite. Credit professionals work closely with many areas of the firm. Given this structure, CR professionals gain diverse financial experience and a broad perspective on how the entire firm functions. The interaction with numerous departments and the range of projects that ensue allow for a challenging, varied and multi-dimensional work environment.This business is ideal for collaborative individuals who have strong ethics and attention to detail. Whether assessing the creditworthiness of the firm''s counterparties, monitoring market risks associated with trading activities, or offering analytical and regulatory compliance support, our work contributes directly to the firm''s success.Responsibilities
Assess the credit and financial strength of the firm''s corporate borrowers and counterparts by performing fundamental credit analysis using both quantitative and qualitative factorReview lending and underwriting transactions, determine risk appetite and regulatory ratings, having developed an independent view of cash flow projections and of key documentation protectionPerform sector analysis regularly in order to assess portfolio concentrations or trend.Coordinate with Investment Banking/Financing group, Sales and Trading, Legal, Operations and Compliance departments to approve derivatives business and ensure appropriate documentation, limits and risk mitigants to protect against a counterpart default and minimize potential lossesAnalyse the risks inherent in the products GS transacts, including lending, trading and derivative productsDevelop and manage relationships with other areas of the firm, including Investment Banking, Sales and Trading, Operations, Controllers, Treasury, Legal, Compliance and TechnologyExperience Required
1-2 years of credit risk management experience, with a background in corporate credit riskSignificant experience in investment banking products including loan products and derivativesDemonstrable track record of independent decision making and the ability to steer client and business negotiationsStrong familiarity with regulatory risk rating requirements and application of such guidanceStrong documentation (loan and/or derivatives), analytical, presentational and communication skills requiredGood knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and PowerPointAbility to perform under pressureIntellectual curiosity and self-motivationFluent English is a must (additional language would be an asset)Strong interest in client interaction and relationship managementAbout Goldman Sachs
