Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, specialist nursing care within a home care package for an individual with Cerebral Palsy and complex healthcare needs. The role requires advanced competency in airway management and the ability to deliver safe, person-centred care while promoting the individual’s dignity, independence, and quality of life. The nurse must also be able to travel between locations as required.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver complex clinical care in the home environment, including airway management (suction, nebulisers, oxygen therapy, tracheostomy care if applicable).

Undertake thorough assessments of the client’s health and respond promptly to any changes in condition.

Administer medication safely and in line with NMC standards and care plan instructions.

Support with safe moving and handling, positioning, and postural management.

Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records in line with organisational, CQC, and NMC requirements.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (GPs, therapists, consultants) and family members to ensure consistent, holistic care.

Provide training, guidance, and supervision to support workers within the care package as required.

Ensure safeguarding, infection prevention, and health and safety standards are upheld at all times.

Participate in care reviews and contribute to the ongoing development of the care plan.
Essential Qualifications & Experience

Registered Nurse (Adult / Child / Learning Disabilities) with valid NMC PIN.

Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with Cerebral Palsy or complex physical disabilities.

Competency and confidence in airway management, including suction and oxygen therapy (and tracheostomy care if relevant).

Proven experience delivering care in a community, home, or complex care setting.

Current UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Advanced airway management training (tracheostomy, ventilator support).

Previous experience leading or mentoring support staff.

Additional training in epilepsy management, manual handling, or safeguarding vulnerable adults/children.
