Supply Desk is currently seeking a passionate and skilled Resistant Materials Teacher to join a dynamic and forward-thinking secondary school in Hemel Hempstead. This full-time role is available from September and offers an exciting opportunity to inspire and develop the next generation of designers, makers, and problem-solvers.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in teaching Resistant Materials and a commitment to delivering engaging, high-quality lessons that encourage curiosity and technical confidence.
Job Description:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Resistant Materials to students across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable but not essential).
- Teach a range of practical and theoretical topics, including woodworking, metalwork, CAD/CAM, and design principles.
- Ensure students develop strong technical skills and an understanding of safety and sustainability in design.
- Support students with project work, coursework, and exam preparation, providing clear guidance and feedback.
- Manage and maintain tools, equipment, and resources, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
- Collaborate with the Design andamp; Technology department to develop schemes of work and cross-curricular initiatives.
- Foster a creative, inclusive classroom environment that encourages problem-solving, collaboration, and independent thinking.
- Monitor student progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating with parents/carers as needed.
- Participate in departmental meetings, CPD, and school-wide activities, contributing to the wider school community.
Our Ideal Candidate Will:
- Be a qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent, with a specialism in Resistant Materials or Design andamp; Technology.
- Have experience teaching Resistant Materials in a secondary school setting.
- Be confident delivering both practical and theory-based lessons to a range of abilities.
- Have strong subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for design, innovation, and hands-on learning.
- Demonstrate excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Possess excellent communication and organisational skills, with a proactive and flexible approach.
- Be committed to high standards of teaching and learning, and continuous professional development.
- Hold or be willing to obtain a clear DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service).
- Be available for a full-time teaching role starting in September.
