Residential Childrens Support Worker

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Children''s Residential Support Worker to join a small, nurturing 4-bed EBD home. You will play a vital role in supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, helping them to achieve positive outcomes and develop essential life skills in a safe, structured environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day care and support to children and young people aged [insert age range, e.g. 8-18]
• Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent role model
• Support young people to manage challenging behaviours using therapeutic approaches
• Promote education, independence, and social development
• Safeguard and protect children, ensuring their welfare is always prioritised
• Assist with care planning, risk assessments, and reviews
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and daily logs
• Work collaboratively with external professionals, families, and the wider team
• Participate in shift work, including sleep-ins and weekends

Essential Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people (ideally within residential or EBD settings)
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins
• Full UK driving licence (preferred/essential depending on role)

Desirable

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards)
• Previous experience in a children''s residential home
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care or therapeutic approaches
