Research Director - FTC (maternity cover)

Overview

We are recruiting for our client, an international research and strategy consultancy. They’re looking for a Research Director to join their quantitative research team on a 12-month fixed term contract (maternity cover). This role can be 4 or 5 days per week and can be based in their London office or their Leeds office.Responsibilities

Act as project director and strategic advisor for key clients, ensuring exceptional client service and commercially relevant recommendationsLead end-to-end management of large, complex research studies, from design through delivery, across timelines, budgets, and suppliersTake responsibility for project profitability and contribute to business development by growing key accounts and supporting proposalsDeliver high-quality analysis, clear narratives, and engaging outputs with real commercial impactMentor and coach colleagues, with the opportunity for line management of 1–2 direct reportsContribute to a positive, collaborative team cultureKey requirements

Proven experience in a senior leadership or management role within a research agency, with strong expertise in quantitative researchDemonstrable experience managing high-value client accounts, ideally in media and advertisingStrong commercial awareness and a proactive approach to business opportunitiesExcellent project management and analytical skills, with the ability to turn complex data into a compelling storyExceptional communication and presentation skillsProficiency in Q, MS Office, and Google Workspace (including Slides)Knowledge of GDPR and MRS Code of ConductPerformance-related bonus schemeSupport for professional training and career developmentGenerous holiday allowance, including additional leave for length of servicePension contributionWellbeing support, including insurance and employee assistance schemesRegular team socials and company-wide eventsSeniority level
