Repairs Surveyor

Fortus Recrutiment are currently representing a local authority who are looking for a  Surveyor to join their property services division covering the GU Postal area

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Surveyor to join our team. The role involves diagnosing building defects, particularly damp, mould, and condensation issues, and managing remedial works from initial survey through to completion.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong surveyor who enjoys problem solving, project management, and delivering high-quality repair and maintenance solutions within occupied properties.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct building surveys and diagnose defects including damp, mould, and condensation.

• Identify root causes and specify appropriate remedial solutions.

• Prepare clear technical reports and scope works.

• Manage small repair and refurbishment projects from survey through to completion.

• Supervise contractors and operatives to ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.

• Promote strong Health & Safety practices and ensure compliance with procedures.

• Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and tenants.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in building surveying or building pathology investigations.

• Strong knowledge of building construction, maintenance, and defect diagnosis.

• Experience managing repair or refurbishment projects.

• Excellent organisational and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and job management systems.

Qualifications

• Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) is advantageous.

• PCA qualifications such as CSRT/CSTDB are advantageous.

• Full UK driving licence required.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience within building maintenance or construction.

• Experience diagnosing damp, mould, and building defects.

• Experience working within occupied properties or social housing environments is desirable.
