About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Repairs Surveyor to join our responsive repairs and maintenance team. This role is ideal for a knowledgeable and proactive individual with a strong background in social housing, disrepair cases, and insurance-related repair works.
You will be responsible for surveying, diagnosing, specifying, and managing a range of building repair works - ensuring compliance, quality, and value for money across all activities.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out property inspections and surveys to diagnose repairs and building defects.
Manage disrepair claims in line with legislation (e.g. Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act, Housing Disrepair Protocol).
Oversee insurance-related works, liaising with loss adjusters and contractors as required.
Prepare detailed specifications and schedules of work.
Monitor contractors to ensure works are completed on time, to standard, and within budget.
Provide expert technical advice to tenants, colleagues, and legal teams.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, works, and communications.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Repairs or Building Surveyor within the social housing sector
- Strong knowledge of disrepair legislation, pre-action protocols, and resolution processes
- Experience managing insurance repair works, including liaison with insurers and contractors
- Ability to diagnose a wide range of building defects (internal and external)
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. HNC/HND in Building Studies, RICS/CIOB membership - desirable)
- Full UK driving licence
