As part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible for assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care, and/or the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients. The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision. The post holder may be required to demonstrate procedures to and supervise registered and/or unregistered staff, as well as student nurses. Duties may vary with the type of ward / department and the degree of patient dependency.Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in the Medical assessment unit and Frailty assessment unit within University Hospital Hairmyres. The working pattern is rotational. Salary for part-time roles is pro-rata.Responsibilities
Assess care needs and develop programmes of care, and/or implement and evaluate care plans to ensure high quality care for patients.Work as part of a multidisciplinary team; supervise and demonstrate procedures to other staff and student nurses as required.In the absence of the senior charge nurse or deputy, provide cover to ensure effective operation of the ward/department.Direct, coordinate and supervise the work of other staff within the ward or department to promote best practice in patient care.Qualifications and Requirements
Registered Nurse with valid NMC RegistrationExcellent teamwork and the ability to work using own initiativeEffective listening, communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary teamExcellent time management skillsWorking knowledge of basic information technologyDesirable / Additional Post-registration Development
Evidence of Post Registration Development, working at degree levelExperience in an acute setting (medical receiving area, AandE, Frailty Unit, acute medicine of the elderly)Venepuncture, cleanliness championKnowledge of SIGN, trust procedures and policiesDemonstrate knowledge of Best Practice GuidelinesPhlebotomyCannulationMale catheterisationContract type
