Location: Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum
Additional earnings: Performance-related bonuses
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Home: Brand-new 3-bed EBD children’s home
About the Role
We are recruiting an experienced Registered Manager to lead a brand-new three-bed children’s residential home in Sutton Coldfield.
You will take responsibility for the home from registration and set-up through to opening and its first Ofsted inspection.
This is an opportunity to join an established children’s residential care provider that already operates two homes, both rated Good by Ofsted.
The organisation is continuing to grow and offers strong senior support, clear career progression, mandatory training and support with professional development and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
As Registered Manager, you will:
- Lead the registration and set-up of the new children’s home
- Manage the home in line with its Statement of Purpose
- Ensure compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations (England) 2015
- Work in line with safeguarding legislation and guidance
- Prepare the home for Ofsted inspection
- Recruit, lead, supervise and develop the residential care team
- Maintain safe and effective staffing levels
- Ensure children receive safe, high-quality and child-centred care
- Oversee safeguarding, care planning, risk assessments and audits
- Work closely with education professionals, Local Authorities and external agencies
- Monitor staff performance and development
- Manage budgets and operational requirements
- Drive continuous improvement across the service
- Work towards achieving a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating
About You
We are looking for someone with strong experience in children’s residential care who is confident leading a home and developing a team.
You should have:
- Experience working within a children’s residential care setting
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
- Good understanding of safeguarding and safer care practice
- Experience leading and developing staff
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Confidence managing performance, conflict and challenging situations
- Experience working with care plans and risk assessments
- The resilience and leadership skills required to manage a busy children’s home
- Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check
Qualifications
Ideally you will hold:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
Candidates working towards the qualification may also be considered.
A Designated Safeguarding Lead Level 3 qualification is also required.
Salary & Bonus Package
Salary: £60,000 to £65,000 per annum, depending on experience
Additional bonuses include:
- £1,500 bonus for achieving a Good Ofsted rating
- £2,500 bonus for achieving an Outstanding Ofsted rating
- £1,250 placement bonus for Child A
- £1,250 placement bonus for Child B
- £1,250 placement bonus for Child C
Ofsted and placement bonuses are subject to the qualifying criteria and length of service requirements.
