We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and compassionate Registered General Nurse (RGN) to join a residential care service supporting elderly residents, including individuals living with dementia.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Registered General Nurse (RGN) who is passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care and confident leading clinical operations during night shifts. The successful Registered General Nurse (RGN) will play a key role in maintaining safe, effective, and responsive care while providing leadership and support to the night care team.
About the Role
As a Registered General Nurse (RGN), you will be responsible for delivering outstanding nursing care to residents with a range of physical, emotional, and cognitive needs, including those living with dementia.
Working as the senior clinical professional on shift, you will lead and support Care Assistants, oversee the smooth running of the night service, and ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and person-centred care at all times.
You will use your clinical expertise and professional judgement to assess needs, make informed decisions, develop personalised care plans, and safely administer medication. The role offers the autonomy to apply best practice while contributing to a positive and supportive environment for both residents and colleagues.
This position is ideal for a confident and experienced nurse who enjoys working nights and takes pride in leading teams to deliver exceptional standards of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and wellbeing needs are met
- Lead the night shift, providing guidance, support, and clinical oversight to Care Assistants and support staff
- Develop, implement, and review person-centred care plans, monitoring residents’ health and responding appropriately to changes in condition
- Administer medication safely and in accordance with clinical policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate clinical records using electronic care planning systems and support effective handovers to ensure the service is prepared for day shift operations
- Promote dignity, independence, choice, and person-centred care at all times
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and colleagues
- Ensure compliance with NMC standards, safeguarding requirements, organisational policies, and clinical governance frameworks
- Support quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives across the service
- Respond effectively to emergencies and make sound clinical decisions when required
About You
- Registered Nurse with an active NMC PIN
- Previous experience caring for elderly residents, including individuals living with dementia
- Experience developing and implementing person-centred care plans
- Confident leading shifts and supervising care staff
- Experience using electronic care planning systems, ideally PCS
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive and professional working relationships
- Computer literate with good record-keeping skills, compassionate, professional, and committed to delivering outstanding care
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, medication management, and best practice standards
