We are looking for a Regional Head of Estates London (internally the role is known as Senior Estate Manager) to join our team. The role is full-time and permanent, working 36 hours per week.
The London portfolio brings together more than 20 historic sites across the capital and surrounding area, including Kenwood House, Eltham Palace and Gardens, Marble Hill House, Apsley House, Wellington Arch, Down House, Tilbury Fort, Jewel Tower, London Wall, Winchester Palace, the Royal Artillery Monument, historic statues and the Cenotaph. This is a distinctive regional leadership role combining historic mansions with nationally important monuments, memorials, archaeological remains and complex urban stakeholder requirements. You will lead the regional Estates team and oversee an annual estates and maintenance budget of more than -3 million.
Based in London, you may work from home or from one of our site-based offices (Kenwood or Eltham Palace), but you will be expected to spend a proportionate amount of your time at Kenwood, Eltham Palace and Apsley House, and travel across the London sites to attend meetings, site visits and engage with colleagues.

This is a significant senior leadership role at the heart of English Heritage''s work, shaping how some of the country''s most significant historic places are cared for, maintained and developed for the future. You will lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary team, ensuring consistent delivery of maintenance, compliance, conservation and operational priorities. You will manage cyclical, reactive, compliance and capital programmes and an annual estates and maintenance budget of more than -3 million, provide assurance on health and safety, fire and statutory responsibilities, and advise regional and senior stakeholders on estate, maintenance and asset management priorities. This is a unique opportunity to help shape estate delivery across a portfolio of historic buildings and structures in London.
We are looking for an experienced estates, property, conservation or facilities leader with strong people leadership, programme and budget management experience. You will bring excellent stakeholder management skills, sound judgement on risk and compliance, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage complex programmes and drive continuous improvement in a busy urban heritage environment.
To be considered for the role, you''ll need experience of:
1. Building and managing complex work programmes and budgets.
2. Working at a senior level contributing to national and departmental strategy and policy.
3. Leading a multi-functional team through periods of change.
4. Procuring and managing construction and maintenance contracts.
5. Leading teams managing an estate with a range of property-related issues including safety, legal and statutory requirements.
