We’re looking for a compassionate, motivated and resilient Homeless / Ex-Offender Support Worker to join our team in Birmingham.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support people who have experienced homelessness, offending, mental health challenges, addiction and other complex needs. You’ll help clients develop the skills, confidence and stability they need to maintain their accommodation, reduce homelessness and move towards more independent and positive futures.

You’ll build trusting relationships with clients experiencing homelessness, offending, addiction and mental health difficulties and work closely with housing, health, social care, criminal justice and voluntary sector professionals to make sure people receive the right support at the right time. You will support clients to develop independent living skills and achieve positive outcomes, build positive, professional relationships with clients and external agencies, manage safeguarding concerns and support effective risk management.

What You’ll bring:

• Experience of supporting vulnerable adults
• An understanding of homelessness and supported housing
• Knowledge of welfare benefits and the challenges faced by homeless people and ex-offenders
• An understanding of addiction, mental health and offending services
• Knowledge of safeguarding and managing risk
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• A commitment to equality, diversity and fairness

Your Working Pattern

This is a 35-hour full-time role with a range of shifts to provide effective support to clients.

Typical shifts include:

• Early: 7.30am – 2.30pm
• Mid: 8.30am – 5.00pm
• Afternoon/Evening: 3.00pm – 11.00pm
• Sleep-in: 11.00pm – 7.30am

You’ll be required to complete 7–8 sleep-in shifts per month.
