Reactive Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Reactive Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to electrical faults, breakdowns, and urgent maintenance issues across a range of facilities. This role requires a proactive, safety-conscious individual who can diagnose and resolve problems efficiently to minimise downtime and disruption.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and emergency call-outs

• Diagnose electrical faults and carry out effective repairs

• Perform maintenance on electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and control systems

• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with current electrical regulations and health & safety standards

• Liaise with clients, site managers, and internal teams to provide updates and solutions

• Maintain accurate records of work carried out, including reports and documentation

• Identify opportunities for preventative maintenance to reduce future reactive issues

• Participate in on-call rota as required

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer or similar role

• Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) certification

• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and under pressure

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Full UK driving licence (if role involves travel)

Desirable Skills

• Experience working in commercial or industrial environments

• Knowledge of building management systems (BMS)

• Testing and inspection certification (2391 or equivalent)

• Multi-skilled experience (basic mechanical knowledge)
