They are recruiting an Assistant Buyer to assist procurement activities on a major rail enhancement project in Acton. As the Assistant Buyer, you will be responsible for supporting the Procurement Manager with procuring for subcontractors and suppliers, purchasing and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and issue subcontract tenders and paperworkNegotiate with suppliers to get the best price, quality, and delivery timesProcess purchase requests from approved suppliers, making sure they meet budget and quality standardsWork closely with colleagues, suppliers and subcontractors to make sure service levels are metSupport meetings by preparing agendas, taking notes and sharing follow-upsProduce simple reports, spreadsheets, and presentations using MS OfficeHandle incoming enquiries and correspondence, drafting responses where needed The ideal Assistant Buyer will have: Proven experience in procurement or buying activities within transportation.Ideally experience working in the rail industry, otherwise water, highways or utilitiesExcellent communication and time-management skills.PC literate.
