The Opportunity
 
TradesTech Recruitment are working with an established civil engineering contractor delivering a major HS2 civils package in Banbury.
 
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a long-term freelance basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven QS to gain further experience on one of the UK''s most significant infrastructure programmes, with the potential to move into a permanent position.
 
You''ll work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider project team, gaining exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of a major civils project.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Support the commercial management of a major HS2 civils package.
• Assist with applications for payment and commercial reporting.
• Support subcontract procurement, administration and management.
• Review and assess subcontractor applications, valuations and final accounts.
• Assist with the management of variations, compensation events and change.
• Support cost forecasting, reporting and budget control.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
• Work closely with project and site teams to identify and manage commercial opportunities and risks.
• Assist with contractual administration and ensure commercial processes are followed.
• Develop strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

• 5+ years'' experience within Quantity Surveying / Assistant Quantity Surveying.
• Experience working on civil engineering, infrastructure or major construction projects.
• Good understanding of NEC contracts, ideally NEC3 or NEC4.
• Previous exposure to CEMAR would be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of commercial and contractual processes.
• Good knowledge of subcontract management, valuations, change and cost reporting.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a wider commercial team.
• Full UK driving licence.
