Senior Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor – Dam Works

£450 - £500 p/day

Leading Main Contractor | Bideford, North Devon

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor on a major flood-defence and civil engineering scheme near Bideford.

This is an excellent opportunity to support the commercial delivery of technically challenging dam works within an established project team.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will provide commercial support across the project, working closely with the delivery team, client and supply-chain partners.

Key responsibilities:

• Managing the commercial performance of allocated work packages
• Preparing and submitting applications for payment
• Procuring, appointing and managing subcontractors
• Assessing subcontractor applications and preparing payment notices
• Identifying, assessing and managing variations and compensation events
• Producing cost reports, forecasts and cash-flow information
• Monitoring project costs against budgets and forecasts
• Supporting the management of contractual and commercial risk
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation
• Working closely with operational teams to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Assisting with the preparation and agreement of final accounts
• Supporting junior members of the commercial team where required

About You

• Previous quantity surveying experience within civil engineering or infrastructure
• Experience working on dam, flood-defence, water or heavy civil engineering projects advantageous
• Strong knowledge of subcontract procurement and management
• Experience preparing valuations, cost reports and forecasts
• Good contractual and commercial awareness
• Confident managing change and maintaining accurate records
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Able to work effectively with clients, delivery teams and supply-chain partners
• Relevant degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline desirable
• Professional membership of RICS or another relevant body advantageous

Working Arrangement

• Site-based role near Bideford
• 2-3 days on-site
• Immediate start available
• 6-month contract (with extensions)
