Quantity Surveyor - Newbury (Freelance)

About the Role

We are currently seeking a Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support a range of commercial construction projects based in Newbury, West Berkshire. This opportunity is ideal for a reliable and proactive individual looking to develop or expand their experience within a fast-paced commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with cost estimation, budgeting, and financial reporting across projects

• Support the preparation of tender documents, contracts, and valuations

• Monitor project costs and track variations

• Help manage subcontractor accounts and payments

• Liaise with project managers, site teams, and suppliers to ensure financial efficiency

• Assist in ensuring projects are delivered within budget and to agreed timelines

Requirements

• Some experience or academic background in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred but not essential)

• Basic understanding of construction contracts and cost control

• Strong numerical and analytical skills

• Good communication and organisational abilities

• Willingness to learn and take direction where required

• Ability to work independently and manage assigned responsibilities
