Quantity Surveyor – Roofing & Refurbishment - Essex

About the Client

Our Client is an established roofing and refurbishment contractor delivering projects across social housing, residential, commercial, and public-sector environments. Their portfolio includes multi-property roofing replacement and refurbishment programmes alongside flat roofing, pitched roofing, external refurbishment, and retrofit works. With continued growth and a strong project workload, the business is looking to strengthen its commercial team with an experienced Quantity Surveyor.

• Commercially manage roofing and refurbishment projects from contract award through to final account.

• Prepare and submit applications for payment and valuations.

• Manage variations, change control, and associated commercial documentation.

• Produce CVRs, cost reports, and commercial forecasts.

• Monitor project costs, margins, cash flow, and overall commercial performance.

• Manage subcontractor procurement, appointments, and commercial administration.

• Assess subcontractor applications and payments.

• Prepare and issue contractual notices where required.

• Work closely with Contracts Managers and Project Managers throughout project delivery.

• Attend client, project, and commercial meetings.

• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.

• Maintain accurate commercial records and supporting project documentation.

• Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors.

• Support the commercial team in maintaining profitability across multiple live projects.

• Previous Quantity Surveying experience within the construction industry.

• Experience within roofing, refurbishment, social housing, or a related specialist contracting environment would be advantageous.

• Strong knowledge of applications, valuations, variations, and change control.

• Experience producing CVRs and commercial forecasts.

• Good contractual and commercial awareness.

• Strong understanding of subcontractor procurement and commercial management.

• Confident negotiation and client-facing skills.

• Ability to monitor project costs, margins, and commercial performance.

• Strong organisational and communication skills.

• Ability to commercially manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Experience with flat roofing, pitched roofing, external refurbishment, retrofit, or occupied social housing programmes would be particularly advantageous.
