Quantity Surveyor - Tier 1 Main Contractor - Build & Refurbishment

As Quantity Surveyor you will be working closely with the commercial team, reporting directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor on a range of high profile multi-million pound schemes throughout the region. You''ll provide commercial support, helping to ensure projects are procured, delivered within budget and to the highest quality, whilst exceeding the expectations of our client.

Responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor

• Develop an understanding of Pre-Contract Management and Project commercial start up procedures
• Assist in the preparation of work package content sheets.
• Develop an understanding of the importance of the supply chain to deliver continuous improvement in terms of time, cost, quality and learning of all parties.
• Assisting with estimating projects (dealing with subcontract enquiries / tenders etc)
• Assist in the timely preparation of valuations, submissions of invoices and receipt of payment.
• Assist in the prompt preparation and settlement of final accounts.
• Develop an understanding of principle unit costs of resources (labour, plant and materials).
• Assist in the preparation of material wastage reconciliations.
• Identify any unnecessary costs and inefficient activities.
• Assist in the review plant and equipment schedules to ensure efficiency of use.
• Contribute to the production of accurate and timely CVR reports and forecasts.

Requirements for a Quantity Surveyor

• Relevant Degree / Qualification in Quantity Surveying / Construction
• Procurement experience
• Experience in re-measurement
• Financial / cost control
• Appropriate CSCS card
• Valid driving licence
• A base understanding of contract law
• Reading and accurately interpreting drawings and specifications.
