We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially skilled Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join our project team based in Poole, Dorset. This is an excellent opportunity to take full commercial ownership of a significant Highways scheme within a leading contractor environment.



The Role:

  • Position: Quantity Surveyor (QS)

  • Location: Poole, Dorset (Hybrid)

  • Rate: -500 - -550 per day (Inside IR35)

  • Contract: 6+ Month Rolling Contract (40-hour week)

  • Work Pattern: Hybrid (2 days in the office, 3 days working from home)



The Project Focus:

You will be the dedicated commercial lead responsible for a single, key Highways scheme in the region. This role requires meticulous cost control, contractual expertise, and a proactive approach to commercial management.



Key Responsibilities (Commercial Delivery)

  • Financial Control & Forecasting: Manage detailed cost plans and generate Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) and cash flow forecasts to ensure project profitability and accurate financial visibility.

  • Contractual Administration: Manage the contract for the project, providing commercial administration and ensuring strict compliance with NEC3/NEC4 contract conditions.

  • Change Control: Proactively identify, value, and negotiate contract variations and changes, formally converting these into change orders and settling any related compensation events.

  • Subcontract Procurement: Oversee the procurement of specialist subcontractors, including issuing tender packages, negotiating terms, and compiling detailed final account settlements.

  • Payment Management: Prepare and submit accurate Applications For Payment (AFPs) to the client. Scrutinize and validate all incoming subcontractor payment applications to maximize company cash flow.



Candidate Requirements

  • Experience: Proven experience (typically 3+ years) operating as a Quantity Surveyor within Highways, Civil Engineering, or Utilities.

  • Contract Expertise: Essential working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4).

  • Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to manage project costs, negotiate effectively, and efficiently achieve contract close-out.

  • Qualifications: HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline.
