Guildmore Facades & Cladding is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to oversee all commercial and contractual aspects of our projects. The role involves supporting tendering, procurement, and managing payments within the supply chain, as well as liaising with clients on valuations and payments. You will also be responsible for cost/value reporting, pricing contract variations, preparing claims (both time and quantum), and managing commercial and contractual correspondence.
The role is primarily based at our head office, with site visits as required. Depending on the project, there may also be opportunities to manage or mentor assistant/trainee Quantity Surveyors.
Primary Responsibilities

Assist in preparing and reviewing tender and contract documents.

Measure and prepare Scope of Works packages.

Review client amendments to forms of contract.

Support cost analysis for tender returns.

Assist in establishing client requirements and conducting feasibility and risk studies.

Perform commercial/contract risk assessments, earned value management, and cost control.

Support procurement of project supply chain at various stages.

Identify, analyse, and develop responses to project commercial risks.

Provide advice on potential claims, including EOTs, delays, and variations.

Analyse and prepare detailed project reports, including progress against programme.

Value completed work and manage payments, issuing payment/payless notices.

Maintain awareness of current building contracts in use.

Understand and consider implications of health and safety regulations.

Update CVR Cost Value internal reports monthly, reviewing current costs, end-of-life predictions, and prelims forecasting.

Manage monthly subcontract certificates and client valuations.

Guide and manage sub-team members.

Work in line with the CML Commercial Management Manual and procedures.

Undertake contractual administration during construction.
Requirements and Skills
-
Proven experience in a QS/Commercial role within construction.
-
Experience in Facades & Cladding is advantageous but not essential.

Confident dealing with clients and subcontractors.

Technically minded with the ability to read and interpret detailed drawings.

Strong commercial awareness.

Highly numerate, with the ability to build Bills of Quantities (BOQs) quickly and accurately.

Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new skills.

Confident, resourceful, and proactive ‘can-do’ attitude.
