Job Title: Quantity Surveyor - Cost Consultancy / High Rise

Salary: -45,000 - -55,000 + Package

An independent and growing property and construction consultancy providing specialist Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Cost Consultancy and Building Surveying services across the UK.

The business works closely with a select group of clients, providing commercially focused advice throughout the development lifecycle. Its portfolio includes major residential, Build to Rent, commercial, regeneration, student accommodation and mixed-use developments, with active projects exceeding -500m in construction value.

The cost consultancy team provides services from early feasibility and appraisal through procurement, tendering, value engineering, contract negotiation, cost control, valuations and final accounts.

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Cost Consultant to join the cost consultancy team, working across major high-rise and complex development projects ranging from -10m to -150m.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a consultancy environment, working directly with clients and project teams and gaining exposure to major development schemes.

You will be involved across the project lifecycle, providing commercial and cost advice from initial feasibility and budget setting through procurement, construction and final account.

• Provide full Quantity Surveying and Cost Consultancy services across major development projects.

• Prepare feasibility estimates, initial budgets and cost plans.

• Develop and maintain project cost plans as designs progress.

• Provide commercial advice to clients throughout the development lifecycle.

• Assist with procurement strategy and advise on appropriate procurement routes.

• Prepare tender documentation and manage tender processes.

• Undertake detailed tender analysis and commercial comparisons.

• Assist with contractor selection and contract negotiations.

• Identify value engineering opportunities while maintaining project requirements.

• Monitor project costs against approved budgets.

• Produce regular cost reports and forecast final project costs.

• Provide commercial advice on design development and changes.

• Assess and manage variations and change control.

• Undertake valuations and review contractor applications for payment.

• Assist with contract administration and commercial management.

• Monitor project risks and provide advice on potential cost exposure.

• Negotiate and agree costs with contractors and suppliers.

• Assist with final account preparation and negotiation.

• Support clients in avoiding and resolving commercial disputes.

• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and wider project teams.

• Contribute to the continued development of the cost consultancy service.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a consultancy / PQS environment.

• Experience working on major construction or development projects.

• High-rise, residential, Build to Rent, commercial or mixed-use experience would be highly advantageous.

• Experience working on projects valued between -10m and -150m would be desirable.

• Strong knowledge of cost planning, estimating and cost control.

• Experience preparing and analysing tenders.

• Strong understanding of procurement routes and construction contracts.

• Experience with valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts.

• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.

• Excellent client-facing and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider project team.

• Relevant Quantity Surveying / Construction qualification.

• RICS pathway or Chartered status would be advantageous.
