Quantity Surveyor

Artisan Agency is working with a leading-property services specialist to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor for their Portsmouth team.

Our client delivers expert property maintenance, refurbishment and compliance services across complex and highly regulated environments. Working across sectors including Defence, Education, Healthcare and Critical National Infrastructure, they provide safe, compliant and commercially effective solutions across a wide range of essential property services.

This is a key opportunity to join an established commercial team, with responsibility for ensuring effective cost control, value for money and robust commercial governance across a portfolio of projects and contracts.

What You''ll Be Doing

You will manage the commercial and financial delivery of commercial interior, fit-out and refurbishment projects across healthcare, education and public sector environments.

The role will involve preparing and reviewing valuations, cost reports and financial forecasts, as well as managing subcontractor accounts, applications and final accounts.

You will control variations, ensuring accurate pricing and clear commercial justification, while supporting the preparation of project budgets, cashflow forecasts and cost-value reconciliations.

Working closely with operational teams, you will ensure alignment between project delivery and commercial outcomes, while maintaining compliance with contract terms, schedules of rates and client requirements.

You will also identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities, support audits and reporting requirements, and contribute to internal commercial governance processes.

The role requires strong commercial judgement, excellent attention to detail and the ability to build effective working relationships with operational teams, subcontractors, clients and key stakeholders.

About You

You will have proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within commercial, construction, refurbishment or public sector environments.

You will have demonstrable experience delivering projects ranging from -250k to -2.5m+, together with a sound understanding of JCT and NEC forms of contract and effective cost control procedures.

Experience managing subcontractor accounts, applications, valuations and final accounts is essential, along with a good working knowledge of contractual and commercial processes.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are important, as is excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness.

You will also be IT literate, with good Excel skills and experience using commercial or cost management systems.
