Quality Inspector
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our manufacturing team. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring products meet customer specifications and company quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. You will support production teams by carrying out inspections, monitoring process compliance, maintaining the Quality Management System and driving continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct first-off, in-process and final inspections of products to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.

Inspect incoming raw materials and verify compliance with approved specifications.

Monitor product quality, defect levels, reject rates and scrap, reporting trends and concerns promptly.

Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and support containment and corrective actions.

Support process control across mixing, pressing and firing operations.

Participate in internal ISO 9001 audits and maintain compliance with the Quality Management System.

Ensure inspection and testing equipment is calibrated and maintained.

Assist with investigations into customer complaints, internal quality issues and root cause analysis.

Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality and reduce waste.

Promote safe working practices, report hazards and work in accordance with Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.

Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, Maintenance and Technical teams to improve product quality and Right First Time performance.

Maintain accurate inspection records and communicate quality issues clearly and professionally.
Essential Skills & Experience
-
Previous Quality Control or Quality Assurance experience within a manufacturing environment.

Experience using inspection and measurement equipment.
-
Good understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, to record and analyse quality data.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-
Ability to challenge quality issues professionally and work effectively across multiple departments.
Desirable Skills & Experience
-
Experience within refractory, ceramics, foundry, metal pressing or heavy manufacturing industries.

Internal ISO 9001 auditing experience or Internal Auditor qualification.

Experience using SAP or another ERP system.

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and continuous improvement methodologies.
