About the Opportunity
An established food production business is looking for a motivated and organised technical professional to join its quality team. The successful candidate will help maintain high standards of product safety, quality, and compliance while supporting the ongoing development of internal processes and systems.
This role would suit someone with experience in food manufacturing who enjoys working with technical information, coordinating compliance activities, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with colleagues across different departments.
Monday - Friday 08:00 - 17:00
Key Responsibilities
- Support the maintenance and ongoing development of quality assurance systems and procedures.
- Help ensure products and manufacturing processes meet applicable food safety legislation, industry standards, and customer expectations.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, operational procedures, product information, and quality records.
- Assist with audit preparation, evidence gathering, follow-up actions, and ongoing compliance monitoring.
- Maintain supplier records and support the assessment and approval of raw materials and suppliers.
- Keep internal databases and digital systems up to date, ensuring information remains accurate and accessible.
- Coordinate supplier checks and risk assessments relating to product integrity, authenticity, and supply chain vulnerabilities.
- Assist with customer enquiries, technical documentation, and product information requirements.
- Support investigations into quality issues, helping identify underlying causes and monitor improvement actions.
- Contribute to projects designed to strengthen processes, improve efficiency, and maintain consistent quality standards.
Essential Skills and Experience
Candidates should have:
- Previous experience in a technical, quality assurance, or compliance role within food production or manufacturing.
- A sound understanding of food safety management and quality assurance principles.
- Familiarity with hazard analysis, supplier management, product specifications, and manufacturing compliance requirements.
- Strong organisational skills and a methodical approach to managing information.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Confidence using standard office software and digital record-management systems.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
Desirable Experience and Qualifications
Additional advantages include:
- A qualification in food science, food technology, or a related subject.
- Knowledge of recognised food manufacturing audit and certification standards.
- Relevant internal auditing training or experience.
- A recognised intermediate-level food safety and hazard analysis qualification.
- Experience with digital quality assurance or supplier management platforms.
- Familiarity with customer compliance systems and retail product requirements.
