LocationThe base location is Balmoral Park, Aberdeen. There may be a requirement from time to time to work at other locations, including Customers’, Suppliers, or other Balmoral worksites.

Brief description of the job''s functionThe job entails providing support to the business for all Quality Assurance activities including the effective maintenance of Balmoral Comtec Integrated Management System (IMS), working closely with Production, Projects, Clients, Contractors and/or Third Parties and Suppliers where appropriate. The job holder shall ensure that significant issues are appropriately investigated, ensuring lessons are identified and verified as part of internal audit arrangements and incorporated as best practice. The job holder must be able to actively and effectively communicate and collaborate at all levels across the business including clients and supply chain and demonstrate an enthusiastic approach to resolving problems. It is also expected that the person appointed is pro-active and contributes to our aim of continuous improvement by advising on the operation of our QHSE systems and processes, reporting any issues to line management as appropriate.

Main duties and responsibilities of the jobholder

Promote the Balmoral Group core values.

Contribute to the development and implementation of QHSE objectives aligned to Balmoral Comtec HSEQ Policy and strategic direction.

Establish and maintain open lines of communication to ensure objectives are met and develop good working relationships.

Use and comply with the Balmoral systems, processes, and tools; challenge and improve management systems, processes, and tools.

Actively promote and encourage continual improvement; seek best practice and identify improvements from within and externally.

Identify, develop, and execute programmes aimed at promoting QHSE performance within the business.

Encourage collaboration and sharing across the organisation – communicate information, seek feedback and act accordingly.

Specific duties and responsibilities

Lead the continuous improvement of the quality management systems and supporting applications to meet the requirements of applicable management system standards (e.g., ISO 9001, API Q1).

Attend Client/Project meetings as required to support project requirements.

Evaluate and review client quality requirements during pre-qualification/tendering activities, ensuring timely responses and highlighting exceptions or clarifications as appropriate.

Support the identification of business risks and opportunities ensuring alignment to QHSE Policy and strategic direction; develop and implement appropriate QHSE objectives.

Review Project Quality Plans and templates and provide feedback to the Projects department as appropriate.

Identify, develop, and implement programmes aimed at promoting improved quality performance.

Provide Quality Management guidance, support and training to internal and external stakeholders as applicable.

Ensure changes to quality management systems and supporting applications are communicated to relevant stakeholders.

Provide information, instruction and training in the quality management systems and supporting applications.

Lead the evaluation and review of process risk and identify appropriate controls to reduce the likelihood of potential process failure, e.g., Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA).

Lead the investigation of Customer Complaints, ensuring corrective action is identified, agreed and implemented in a timely manner to prevent recurrence.

Ensure NCRs are investigated in a timely manner with root cause and corrective action identified, agreed and implemented to prevent recurrence.

Support Quality Inspection activities as required, including assisting client inspection activities.

Ensure Quality Inspection activities are conducted and reported in a timely manner for all internal and external stakeholders.

Ensure monitoring and measurement devices are calibrated and maintained and documented information is retained.

Ensure damaged/faulty monitoring and measurement devices are segregated from unintended use with repair and recalibration or destruction approved.

Lead internal audit programmes, identifying audits based on applicable business risks and opportunities.

Provide information, instruction and training to support the execution of audit programmes including internal or third-party audits.

Conduct and report internal audits to verify compliance with quality management system and/or client/project requirements.

Identify and share audit outcomes, ensuring audit findings are agreed and communicated in a timely manner.

Verify the effectiveness of actions to prevent recurrence prior to closure, ensuring documented information is retained.

Lead third-party audits including Client/Project audits and certification audits.

Lead the analysis and review of quality management system performance (trends) and identify recommendations for improvement.

Lead the communication and reporting of quality management performance internally and externally, including client and project reporting requirements.

Participate in Project Lessons Learned reviews ensuring lessons are identified, shared, communicated, and learned.

Working relationships

Personnel reporting to the jobholder:

Certification Engineer; Senior Quality Advisor/Quality Advisor; Quality Coordinator.

Key internal relationships:

Directors, Managers, Supervisors; Engineering/RandD; HSE; Production; Projects; QC; Stores; Supply Chain; Technical; Subsea Test Centre.

Key external relationships:

Customers (e.g., auditors, quality professionals); Third Party Auditors.

Qualifications, experience, skills and trainingNote that criteria listed as “Required” will be strictly applied in the recruitment process – candidates who do not meet these criteria will be rejected.

Qualifications

Required: Lead Auditor/Assessor; Professional quality management qualification (e.g., CQI Diploma, MSc in Quality Management or equivalent); Professional membership (e.g., IOSH or CQI, or equivalent).

Desirable: Professional Occupational health and safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate); Suitable sciences, engineering, or business qualification (degree or HNC).

Experience

Required: Minimum 5 years in a similar role; manufacturing environment experience; coaching/mentoring; knowledge of ISO 9001 and QMS development; experience in risk assessment techniques (e.g., FMEA); internal and external audit experience; understanding of calibration requirements (UKAS); knowledge of standards such as BS EN 10204; understanding of NDT/NDE principles.

Desirable: UK HSE legislative knowledge; familiarity with ISO 10006, ISO 14001, ISO 29001, API Q1, API Q2, EFQM/Business Excellence Model.

Skills

Reading and understanding manufacturing/geometrical drawings; Proficient in Microsoft Office; IT/data handling; clear communication; multi-tasking and teamwork; problem solving; self-motivation and ability to work under pressure; strong organizational, literacy and numeracy skills; delegation and leadership in root cause analysis; effective presentation to senior management; attention to detail; commitment to ongoing development and coaching others; continued professional development (e.g., CQI).

Desirable: Product knowledge; HSE regulatory knowledge.

Additional qualifications

Required: IRCA Lead Assessor (trained to a relevant quality management system standard); investigation/root cause analysis training (e.g., Top-Set, Black-Box, Tap-Root).

Desirable: API Q1/Q2 Lead Assessor.
