Our client is recruiting for an experienced Quality Inspector to join a busy manufacturing/engineering environment. This is a hands-on inspection role responsible for ensuring manufactured components meet the required drawings, specifications, tolerances and quality standards throughout the production process.

The successful quality inspector will carry out First-Off, In-Process and Last-Off inspections, working closely with production, engineering and quality teams to identify and resolve quality issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out First-Off inspections to verify components are correct before full production runs commence.
  • Perform In-Process inspections throughout manufacturing to ensure components remain within specified tolerances.
  • Complete Last-Off inspections at the end of production runs to confirm continued conformity.
  • Inspect manufactured components against engineering drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
  • Accurately measure dimensional and geometric features using a variety of inspection equipment and hand-held measuring tools.
  • Use equipment such as verniers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, plug gauges, surface tables and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Record inspection results accurately and maintain the required quality documentation and traceability.
  • Identify and report non-conforming components, dimensional issues and manufacturing defects.
  • Work closely with machine operators and production personnel to address quality concerns and prevent further non-conforming parts being produced.
  • Support investigations into quality issues and contribute to corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure measuring and inspection equipment is used correctly and remains within calibration requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, attention to detail and housekeeping within the inspection area.
  • Follow company quality procedures, health and safety requirements and relevant industry standards.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience carrying out First-Off, In-Process and Last-Off inspection.
  • The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • A good understanding of dimensions, tolerances and geometric requirements.
  • Experience using a range of precision measuring equipment, including verniers and micrometers.
  • Previous experience inspecting machined or manufactured components.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to make accurate inspection decisions.
  • Good record-keeping and documentation skills.
  • The confidence to communicate quality issues effectively with production and engineering teams.
  • A practical, methodical approach to problem-solving.
