Quality EngineerLocation: Telford (2 days per week onsite initially, reducing to 2 days per month after the first 3 months) Rate: 465 per day (Inside IR35) Start Dateand contract length: November 2026 - 12 months contract Clearance: BPSS Required About the RoleA leading Government client is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join a large-scale digital transformation programme focused on modernising critical public sector services. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement test automation frameworks and solutions from the ground up.Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD), and risk-based testing approaches.Support CI/CD pipelines and promote shift-left quality practices.Coach and mentor team members on quality engineering principles and best practices.Perform testing across multiple levels, including:Unit TestingSystem TestingIntegration TestingNon-Functional TestingAnalyse business requirements and develop effective test strategies.Create and maintain test data and testing artefacts.Participate in collaborative development through pair programming.Review and interpret Java unit tests (e.g. JUnit) to support defect investigation and test analysis.Design and develop automated end-to-end and system tests using Playwright and Java.Build and maintain automated test scripts across UI, API, and system-level testing.Translate requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria into comprehensive automated test coverage.
