Quality Engineer
This is a newly created Quality Engineer opportunity with an established global specialist coatings manufacturer. With over 80 years of technical expertise and manufacturing operations in multiple countries, the business is strengthening its quality function through newly created roles. The position offers a regular day-based 37.5-hour week, contributory pension scheme, 25 days holiday, learning and development and more. As Quality Engineer, you will take ownership of customer quality investigations, lead structured problem solving and deliver robust corrective actions that improve process capability and prevent repeat issues. Working closely with Production, Technical and Quality teams, you will produce customer-facing 8D reports, support PPAP and APQP activities, and contribute to the ongoing effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer:
- Lead customer complaint investigations and produce robust customer-facing 8D reports.
- Conduct structured Root Cause Analysis using recognised methodologies and verify effective corrective actions.
- Support PPAP, APQP, FMEA and Control Plan activities to maintain automotive quality standards.
- Analyse production quality data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
- Work closely with Production and Technical teams to improve process capability and reduce recurring defects.
- Support customer visits, technical discussions, internal non-conformance investigations and audits.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects and provide technical support to the Quality Manager when required.
Requirements of the Quality Engineer:
- Essential: experience in automotive manufacturing, customer quality and an IATF 16949 environment.
- Essential: proven ability to produce customer 8D reports and lead effective Root Cause Analysis.
- Essential: strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence supporting customer-facing discussions.
- Desirable: working knowledge of PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC and MSA.
- Desirable: experience supporting internal audits, non-conformance investigations and continuous improvement activity.
