We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our team in Leicester. Working within a highly specialised manufacturing environment serving demanding automotive and high-performance engineering sectors, you will play a key role in ensuring our products consistently meet the highest quality standards and customer expectations.
About the Role
As a Quality Engineer, you will work closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Customer Quality teams to drive process improvements, investigate quality concerns, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions. You will support the delivery of world-class products through robust quality systems, data-driven decision-making, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead investigations into internal and external quality concerns using structured problem-solving methodologies and root cause analysis tools.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring issues and improve process capability.
- Monitor and analyse quality performance metrics, including scrap, rework, yield, customer complaints, and non-conformances.
- Support production teams in resolving manufacturing quality issues and ensuring timely containment actions.
- Conduct first-off, in-process, and final inspections to verify compliance with engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Maintain and manage calibration systems for inspection and measurement equipment.
- Support internal, customer, and third-party audits, ensuring compliance with quality management systems and customer-specific requirements.
- Assist with supplier quality activities, including supplier assessments, investigations, and performance monitoring.
- Review manufacturing documentation, route cards, and quality records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Deliver quality-related training and guidance to production personnel to promote best practice and right-first-time manufacturing.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving process stability, and enhancing product quality.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of quality standards, procedures, and work instructions.
What We''re Looking For
- Previous experience in a Quality Engineer, Quality Assurance, or Quality Inspection role within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems, including ISO 9001; knowledge of IATF 16949, AS9100, or equivalent standards would be advantageous.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and customer specifications.
- Competent in the use of precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, gauges, and CMM reports.
- Proven problem-solving skills with experience using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, or PFMEA.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify improvement opportunities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience using ERP/MRP systems is desirable.
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within a production environment.
