QA Test Infrastructure Engineer - Contract - MOD/Defence

Somerset| -600 per day | Outside IR35 | DV Security Clearance Required

Are you an Infrastructure Test Engineer with strong QA and testing experience across networks, platforms and Infrastructure as Code?

This is an opportunity to work on complex Defence and National Security projects, taking responsibility for testing and validating infrastructure before deployment into highly secure production environments.

Working alongside Infrastructure Engineers, Architects and DevSecOps specialists, you''ll assure infrastructure across physical, virtualised and cloud environments, ensuring it meets the required standards for functionality, resilience and security.

What you''ll do

• Create infrastructure-focused test strategies, plans and test cases.
• Carry out functional, integration, regression, resilience and security testing.
• Test and validate Infrastructure as Code deployments.
• Validate physical, virtualised and cloud infrastructure.
• Provision and verify test environments alongside DevSecOps teams.
• Build infrastructure validation and readiness testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Identify defects, risks and infrastructure issues ahead of production.
• Support security assurance, compliance and accreditation activities.
• Maintain appropriate test evidence and traceability.

What you''ll need

Strong infrastructure knowledge combined with hands-on testing and assurance experience, including:

• Current, DV Security Clearance
• Networking - TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VLANs and firewalls.
• Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting.
• VMware and virtualised infrastructure.
• Physical infrastructure including routers, switches and cabling.
• Terraform and Ansible.
• Kubernetes.
• AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Jenkins, GitLab CI or GitHub Actions.
• Automated infrastructure validation and environment readiness testing.
• Secure-by-Design, IAM, OS hardening and network segmentation.
