In this role, the Software Test Engineer will ensure the quality and reliability of our software by planning, executing, and reporting on testing across a range of projects—from small enhancements to multi-million-pound initiatives. Working closely with cross-functional teams, playing a key role in both manual and automated testing across the full software development lifecycle.The Senior Test Analyst must be able to be an escalation point when the Team Lead in unavailable.Key Accountabilities:Test Planning and ExecutionTake ownership of end-to-end test planning across the project lifecycle, ensuring plans are robust, risk-aware, and aligned with delivery timelines and quality objectives.Proactively communicate clear, concise, and timely testing updates to stakeholders across projects and programs, escalating risks and blockers where appropriate.Represent QA in both Agile and Waterfall delivery modelsAttend Agile ceremonies, provide input into test estimates, test approaches, and test completion reportsCreate, maintain, and execute manual test cases aligned to project requirements and user storiesConduct risk-based testing in line with the overall test strategyDefine and input test data into the test environment ensuring accuracy of data before use.Participation in Analysis / Design Review/Solution Design meetings for gathering information for future testing phasesWork closely with all areas of the business to complete testing on behalf of Internal, External Customers.Support test activities post-implementation and during warranty periodsQuality Assurance and GovernanceEnsure functional and non-functional testing meets both business requirements and technical quality standards.Lead the regular review and continuous improvement of testing procedures, ensuring all practices are well-documented, up-to-date, and effectively communicated to the wider team.Own defect management: logging, tracking, prioritising, and retestingLead the review of requirements, design, and analysis documentationTooling and AutomationIdentify and drive enhancements in testing processes, tools, and workflows to increase efficiency, coverage, and collaboration within the testing functionIdentify manual test cases suitable for automation and collaborate with the automation teamConduct performance, load testing and support the testing of any other non-functional requirementsIdentify and deliver enhancements to testing processes, tooling and standardsCollaborate with internal teams and third parties (e.g., executing brokers, service pr software providers) to ensure quality outcomesLead on any cross-squad or breakaway squad initiativesSupport internal compliance by ensuring adherence to regulatory standards (e.g., FCA)Provide hands-on support, onboarding, and technical guidance to new team members and those undergoing cross-training, fostering a culture of continuous learning.RequirementsCapabilities:Demonstratable experience of manual testing and software delivery methodologiesDemonstratable experience of creating and managing test strategies, planning, scripting, execution, and reportingTechnical ProficiencyProficient in Microsoft Office applicationsBasic understanding of systems architectureDemonstratable experience of the software development lifecycleKnowledge and Experience:Resilient under pressure and ability to manage conflicting demandsAbility to prioritise effectively and be committed to the implementation of a projectAbility to set an example of professionalism through personal attitudeOffering a flexible approach to workingISTQB/ISEB certified (Foundation or Advanced level)Extensive Testing experience in both Agile and Waterfall methodologiesBackground in the Financial Services industryExperience of Web and Mobile testingProven experience managing testing across small and large-scale projectsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesExposure to:Web technologies (especially Java platforms)Mobile application testingIBM iSeries/AS400, DB2, RPGExperience with performance and non-functional testing toolsCI/CD and DevOps: Familiarity with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes.Cloud and Microservices: Understanding of AWS, GCP, Azure, containerised testing.Group Personal Pension Plan – 8% employer contribution and 4% employee contributionLife Assurance and Group Income ProtectionPrivate Medical Insurance – Provided by BupaStaff Discounts on our investment productsPersonal and Well-being Fund – Supporting your physical and mental wellnessRetail Discounts – Savings at a wide range of high street and online retailersVoluntary Flexible Benefits – Tailor your benefits to suit your lifestylePlease Note:
