Purchasing Manager
with strong meat and poultry buying experience to join our team and lead our procurement function.
Role Summary:
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for managing the procurement of all meat and poultry products, ensuring the best possible pricing, quality, and supplier performance. You will work closely with suppliers, internal departments, and production teams to ensure consistent and cost-effective supply.
Key Responsibilities:
Take full ownership of purchasing meat and poultry products across all categories.
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships in the UK and internationally.
Negotiate prices, contracts, and terms with suppliers to ensure best value and continuity of supply.
Monitor market trends, pricing, and availability of key raw materials.
Manage stock levels to meet production and customer demand while minimising waste and holding costs.
Ensure compliance with all food safety, quality, and traceability standards.
Collaborate with operations, logistics, and sales teams to align procurement with business needs.
Regularly review supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost, service).
Maintain accurate purchasing records and forecasts.
Required Experience and Skills:
Minimum 3 years'' experience in a meat and/or poultry purchasing role

Strong understanding of meat cuts, poultry products, and related supply chains.
Proven negotiation and supplier management skills.
Knowledge of food safety, HACCP, and traceability requirements.
Commercially aware, analytical, and confident decision-maker.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple suppliers/products.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel in particular); experience with ERP systems desirable.
