Purchasing and Planning Manager

CREM Recruitment have been appointed to seek a dynamic and commercially driven-Purchasing and Planning Manager,reporting to the Managing Director, for a growing multi-site family run business with their head office just outside Saffron Walden, Essex (CB10).

This is a hands-on role focused on developing the existing purchasing processes and developing the MRP system to support business growth, supply chain efficiency, forecasting and stock control.

Key Responsibilities

• Hands-on role with one other member of staff reporting to you.
• Develop the procurement processes for current efficiency and proof against future infrastructure growth.
• Develop and manage the MRP system to optimise stock management, forecasting and procurement planning
• Review existing suppliers and, where needed, source and procure hardware products from UK and international suppliers
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supplier terms to drive best value
• Manage supplier relationships and performance, ensuring quality and delivery standards are maintained
• Collaborate with sales, and finance teams to ensure alignment across departments
• Maintain accurate purchasing data, stock records, and reporting
• Evaluate supplier performance and ensure compliance with contracts and agreements
• Identify and implement procurement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives

Key Skills Required

• Demonstrable experience in a Purchasing Management role
• Extensive experience running and managing an MRP system (previous experience using Sage/Sicon MRP systems would be a distinct advantage)
• Proven background in international purchasing, including sourcing from Asia
• Strong negotiation skills
• Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
• CIPS qualification (or working toward) would be advantageous

Salary

-35,000 - -40,000 p/a
