Hays are working with a well-established business based in Shrewsbury that is looking to recruit a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional seeking a role offering a three-day working week (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday) within a supportive and growing organisation.
Your new role
As a Purchase Ledger Clerk, you will play a key role in supporting the finance function and ensuring the smooth processing of supplier invoices.

• Processing high volumes of purchase invoices
• Matching, batching and coding invoices against purchase orders
• Reconciling supplier statements and investigating discrepancies
• Managing supplier queries in a timely and professional manner
• Assisting with month-end finance activities
• Supporting audit preparation and maintaining accurate financial records
• Providing administrative support to the wider finance team
• Assisting with other finance tasks, including sales ledger and credit control duties where required

What you''ll need to succeed

• Previous experience within a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable position
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Experience using Microsoft Excel and finance/accounting systems
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• A proactive and flexible approach to work
• The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
