Pupil Support Mentor - Portsmouth

As a Pupil Support Mentor, youandrsquo;ll be that steady presence for pupils whoandrsquo;ve hit rough patchesandmdash;whether theyandrsquo;re navigating anxiety, trauma, exclusion or SEMH needs. Youandrsquo;ll offer encouragement when itandrsquo;s needed most, help them self-regulate and re-engage, and walk alongside them as they rebuild their confidence, resilience, and hope for the future.

Contract: Full time andndash; September 2025 start

Salary: andpound;80 - andpound;110 per day

Key Responsibilities:


  • Supporting students with social, emotional, behavioural or mental health needs
  • Offering 1:1 sessions that help pupils feel heard, valued and understood
  • Helping young people self-regulate, reflect, and rebuild confidence
  • Encouraging better engagement in lessons and fostering a sense of belonging
  • Working closely with pastoral teams, teachers and families to keep kids connected and supported

Qualifications andamp; Skills:


  • Experience supporting young people, especially those with SEND or SEMH needs
  • A calm, kind and consistent approach to behaviour support
  • Strong understanding of child development and emotional regulation
  • Fantastic communication skills and a natural ability to build trust
  • Confidence working as part of a team, and the initiative to lead when needed
  • The resilience to weather the tough daysandmdash;and the heart to keep showing up anyway
