The role will primarily focus on working within the health protection domain of public health, which aims to prevent and reduce harm from threats to health (e.g., infectious diseases, environmental hazards) as well as promoting vaccination and screening. About UsYou''ll be working in the Public Health and Prevention Team within the Health and Care Directorate. Our team is responsible for overseeing and delivering the county’s public health responsibilities, covering:

Health Protection

Health Improvement

Supportive Communities

Health in All We Do

We provide specialist input, technical expertise, and leadership for various programmes, working upstream to prevent ill health and promote wellbeing. Our focus is on reducing health inequities and achieving the best health outcomes for all residents of Staffordshire.

Main ResponsibilitiesThe Public Health Project Officer will support the public health team in their daily work. Key responsibilities include:

Reducing health inequalities across the system, including vaccine and screening inequalities.

Supporting the health protection team in outbreak management of infectious diseases and environmental incidents.

Building and maintaining partner relationships.

Collaborating with stakeholders on targeted interventions to promote health.

Reviewing data and evidence to inform work plans.

The Ideal CandidateYou''ll have:

Level 4/5 qualification in a public health-related subject or equivalent experience.

Effective communication skills (verbal, written, listening), influencing, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to build and sustain partnerships.

A positive and driven work ethic, with the ability to work independently.

Keen attention to detail.

Creative problem-solving skills.

Experience working with data.
