Public Health Intelligence Specialist

Overview
We are looking for a Public Health Intelligence Specialist to provide expert statistical and epidemiological advice to the Public Health team in the London Borough of Merton and its strategic partnerships. The post holder will support the Public Health Information function, particularly around children and families, assisting in the management of, developing and influencing the direction of public health information to reflect local, regional and national priorities. The role is hybrid with some working at the main offices in Morden, South West London which has good transport links including tube, train and bus. This vacancy is fixed term for 12 months.Responsibilities
Lead on insights that inform policies as well as the commissioning and provision of services, with a focus on priorities such as child poverty, children’s social care reforms, special educational needs and prevention.Work with Children and Lifelong Learning and Families directorate to ensure information reflects local health needs and addresses health inequalities.Provide information to enable a full understanding of health needs in the area and support action planning and wider understanding of the characteristics of the local population.Collaborate with partners to influence the direction of public health information and to support strategic priorities.Demonstrate flexibility to changing demands, attention to detail, creativity and problem-solving in daily work.Person specification and requirements
The post holder will be an experienced professional in public health intelligence, able to provide statistical and epidemiological advice.We are looking for someone who is flexible to changing demands, pays attention to detail, is creative and enjoys problem-solving.Demonstrates clearly how they meet the competencies in the person specification and job description within the supporting statement.Location and employment details
