Psychology Graduates/SEN Teaching Assistant
Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience before pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health, Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Teaching?
Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with several specialist SEN schools across East Kent, so we''re looking for enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated Psychology graduates to join our team as Teaching Assistants on both full-time and part-time basis.
This is an excellent opportunity to apply your knowledge of child development, behaviour and mental health while making a genuine difference to the lives of young people with additional needs.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you''ll work closely with teachers and therapists to support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties
- Complex additional needs
You''ll provide both academic and pastoral support, helping students to build confidence, develop social and emotional skills, improve communication and achieve their learning goals.
What You''ll Be Doing
- Supporting students in the classroom on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Helping pupils develop social interaction and communication skills
- Assisting with classroom activities and differentiated learning
- Building positive relationships with pupils, teachers and families
- Working alongside experienced SEN professionals and therapists
We''re Looking For
- A degree in Psychology (or a related subject)
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, resilience and a positive attitude
- Previous experience working with children or vulnerable adults is desirable but not essential

Requirements
- Full right to work in the UK.
- An enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- A new DBS costs -62, which we''ll reimburse after you''ve completed 20 days of work with us.
