Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience supporting children and young people with additional needs?
A specialist school in Newbury is seeking a motivated and compassionate Psychology Graduate to join their team as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your understanding of psychology in a practical setting, supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs while gaining experience for a future career in psychology, education, or mental health.
As a Psychology Graduate, you will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop the skills they need to thrive. Students may have a range of additional needs, including autism (ASD), ADHD, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties, and learning disabilities.
As part of your role as a Psychology Graduate, you will:
- Provide tailored support to pupils with additional learning and emotional needs
- Help students develop emotional regulation, resilience, and positive social skills
- Support pupils with classroom activities and encourage engagement with learning
- Build trusting relationships and promote positive behaviour
- Work alongside teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals to support individual development
The school offers a supportive environment where you can learn from experienced professionals and develop practical skills in child development, behaviour management, and inclusive education.
This Psychology Graduate position would be particularly suited to graduates aspiring to become Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Child Psychologists, or therapists. Previous experience working with children or individuals with additional needs would be beneficial, although a genuine interest in supporting young people is essential.
