Are you an experienced PRU Teaching Assistant with a passion for making a real difference in young people''s lives? Do you have a strong background in managing challenging behaviour and supporting students with additional needs?
We''re working with a dynamic Pupil Referral Unit in Luton that is looking for a confident, resilient and committed Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.
About the PRU Teaching Assistant role:
- Support students aged 11-16 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education
- Work closely with teaching staff, behaviour mentors, and pastoral teams to deliver tailored support
- Help build trust and positive relationships with students, using de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies
- Assist with academic learning, social development, and emotional wellbeing
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Proven experience working as a TA in a PRU, SEMH or alternative provision setting
- Strong understanding of behavioural needs and strategies to manage challenging situations
- A calm, empathetic and assertive approach
- Ability to commute to Luton
- Team player attitude and the ability to build strong rapport with young people
- Restraint training or Team Teach certification (desirable but not essential)
